BSoUP Plymouth Splash-In 2007
Another wonderful BSOUP splash-in weekend. The persistent cloud and rain of the previous week cleared away and the wind dropped to low levels.
The meeting was well attended with photographers from all over the UK.
A group of 10 attended from the BUPG and all did very well in the competition {see BUPG website July news letter for their final results}.
Dive sites included Hillsea Point pinnacles, Mewstone ledges and Eddystone , and our thanks once again go to Dave and Danny of Discovery Divers for their excellent diving services.
Alan James had decided that this was to be his last Splash-in with a view to moving over to helping with the organising next year.
He went out on a high with good final results, a lovely shot of a Candy Striped Flatworm on a boring sponge earned him first place in the close-up category with his shot of a fried egg Nudibranch also taking second place
Success also followed in the fish category with first place also taken with a colourful portrait of a male Cuckoo Wrasse
To complete his exit Alan’s candy striped flatworm was also credited as runner-up for the overall grand prize award. A nice way to finish!!
All work was carried out using the Sea & Sea DX-D80 housing with the Nikon D80. Lens choice was the Nikon 60mm macro lens in all cases, a single YS110 strobe was used in conjunction with the sea & sea Nikon TTL converter and a fourteen year old home made snoot resurrected from Alan’s old Nikonos days.
